Hedwig Maria (Mogendorf) Murr went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 14th, several days shy of her 88th birthday. Hedy was born in Germany on October 22,1930, and emigrated to McKees Rocks in 1959, where she resided until moving to Vincentian Marian Manor in Mt. Lebanon four years ago. Hedy was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and baking. She was preceded in death by her parents, Georg and Katharina Mogendorf of Germany, her siblings, Hans, Anne,Teresa and Maria; and her husband, John Murr. She is the cherished mother of Marianne (George), Henry (Lana), John (Dawn) and Chris (Suzanne). Hedy is also the beloved grandmother of Diane (Jeffrey), Betsy (Andrew), Max and Heidi; and the great-grandmother of Rebecca and Andrew; she is also survived by her sister, Magdalena, and nieces Gisela, Ursela, Ulrike and their families in Germany. The family would like to thank Hedy’s special neighbors in McKees Rocks for looking after her, and those at Vincentian Marian Manor who took care of her during her time there. Friends will be received on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at SZAL FUNERAL HOME, 238 Helen Street, McKees Rocks. A mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., at St. John of God Parish, McKees Rocks.
