Age 91
Of McKees Rocks,
On Monday May 27, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia Illinicki announces her passing. Virginia was a ray of sunshine to all those who knew her. Everyone remembers her as “always laughing”. She was the most loving mother a child could dream of. As a wife, her devotion to her husband John (Mickey) Illinicki was boundless. She lived a simple life, and what made her most happy was spending time with her family and enjoying nature. When she was younger, she enjoyed bowling, and was very good at it. Watching her and Mickey Jitterbug was such a treat!

During the past 18 years, Virginia suffered from dementia. She declined slowly and fought hard whenever she faced a physical illness. But at 91 years and 10 months old, she faced her last battle. Now she has gone to the other side and we hope she’s with her family and the love of her life, Mickey.

A native of Pittsburgh and McKees Rocks, Virginia was the youngest and last surviving child of eight siblings born to Philomena and Francesco Petruzzi, originally from Calabria, Italy. She never knew her mom who died when she was only 18 months old. We hope she’ll get a warm, loving embrace from her mother as she makes her way to see Jesus.

Virginia is survived by her son Paul (Teresa), her daughter Patrice, and Patrice’s daughters Amanda (John) Froelich and Jessica Bonilla.

I will miss my grandma so much. She was always so sweet and loving. I remember when I was a little kid, she would let me and my sister leave the table, with a little wink, when all of the other adults told us to stay there until we finished our food. She was always kind and thoughtful in little ways like that...

Thank you Mandy. I’m so glad you and Jessy got to know gramma and pap pap.
