Obituary for Zane Edward Bloom
Zane Edward Bloom,
Age 74, of Kennedy Township,
passed away on April 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Zane was born on September 4, 1948 to James G. Bloom Sr and Helen Herrmann (Bloom) Sheaffer in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from Crafton High School in 1966, Zane enlisted into the United States Army and was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Big Red One.
Upon the completion of his service, Zane joined the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66 as a Heavy Equipment Operator, where he worked until his retirement. He belonged to Vietnam Veterans, Inc (VVI) and served on the color guard for many years to honor and remember others that served but are never forgotten. He enjoyed golfing with his son, grandson and friends and their many golf trips together.
Zane married his “Lovey” Christina Margaret Marie Crowell (Patterson) Bloom in 1998. He is survived by his son Zane Bloom, Jr. (Karie), of Leland, NC, and daughter Amy Brown (Joe), of Meadville; his daughter by marriage, Lisa Patterson of Bridgeville, and son by marriage, Frank R. Patterson Jr. (Casey Nowicki), of Bethel Park. Grandfather to Zane Wesley, Emily, Alicia, Charles, Justin, Page, Nathan, Hayden and Koleton. Great grandfather to Justin Jr. and Gianna. Beloved brother to Nora, James, Judy, Claire, Mary, David and Hellie, preceded in death by his sister Cassie. His fur babies Ziva and Zoey brought him great joy.
To all who knew Zane, he was a loud, proud, loving, passionate and generous man and will be forever remembered as our Buddy, Brother, Dad, Pappy Zane, Pap, Grandpap, HoHo, and Bloomers.
The family requests donations be made in Zane’s memory to the charity of choice in lieu of flowers or other sympathy gifts.
